PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The CEC Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate within our preschool program for children ages three months through six years in accordance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures. The Preschool Teacher will be respectful of children and parents, and partner with the admin team and Executive Director to ensure that there are adequate materials and supplies and that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.

 

COMPENSATION

  • $17-$25 an hour, based on education and experience

  • Full-time employment (40 hours weekly) Medical, dental and vision for the individual.

  • 401K with a matching option after a year of employment.

  •  Aflac insurance(optional)

  • 15 paid holidays and up to 7 days paid PTO in the first year of employment.

  • Closing teacher stipends $150 per month.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program.

  • Provide nutritious snacks and lunches in a warm, family-style atmosphere.

  • Support children’s self-concept through positive hygiene activities, including toilet learning.

  • Ensure equipment and the facilities are clean, well maintained, and safe at all times.

  • Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities.

  • Develop activities that introduce science, math and literacy concepts, and support an investigative, multi-disciplinary approach to early learning.

  • Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.

Partnership to support program administration

  • Develop and maintain current, accurate, and confidential client files as appropriate and necessary in the classroom, including monthly attendance sheets, allergy list, and emergency contacts.

  • Report concerns to identified supervisor as soon as possible and within 24 hours.

  • Attend and contribute to Staff Meetings and program events.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Child Development and Early Education theories and practices (including 12+ college course units in the field of Child Development) – prefer CTC Child Development permit “Teacher

  • BA/ MA in ECE preferred.

  • ability to observe and supervise up to 12 young children

  • ability to sit, stand for up to 30 minutes, walk, squat, reach and lift and carry 35 pounds

  • effective verbal and listening communications skills
